Summer fun is here! We’ve put together a list of some of the areas most exciting upcoming events.
June 14-August 24 – Banff Summer Arts Festival
The Banff Summer Arts Festival will showcase local talent as well as international award winning artists. Kicking off the Canada Day weekend festivities Canadian hip-hop artist Classified and the indie band Zeus will take the Shaw Amphitheatre stage on June 30th. Other artists scheduled to perform this summer include Blue Rodeo, Measha Bruggergosman, Brassfire, Feist, Snowblink, and Whitehorse. The Banff Centre will also present Shakespearean plays Twelfth Night, and Romeo and Juliet. June 23 - Banff Marathon
The first and only marathon in North America to be held entirely in a National Park, the Banff marathon is your chance to run in one of the world’s most beautiful and unique destinations. Not quite ready for a full marathon? Run half! Due to popular demand there will be a half marathon race as well as the full. July 1 – Canada Day Parade
What Canada Day celebration is complete without a parade? In celebration of Canadian pride, Canmore will hosts a Canada Day parade. The day will start off with a pancake breakfast at 8am with the parade to follow at noon. After the parade spectators can join in on festivities at Centennial Park from 1pm to 5pm and then finish off the day with a bang at Millennium Park where fireworks will light up the sky beginning at 10:30pm. July 14 – Kitty Scott Curator’s Talk
Curator of the Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Kitty Scott will be taking cisitors on a tour of the Walter Phillips Gallery exhibition Pleinairism. Join Kitty for a knowledgeable art tour free of cost! For more information visit www.banffcentre.ca
Now –Sept 6 – Banff Farmer’s Market
Every Wednesday this summer rows of white tents will take over Banff Central Park where vendors will sell fresh fruits, vegetables and unique products. Visitors can shop for their veggies and art work all at once and then head over for a little afternoon yoga. Rocky Mountain Yoga will be offering a yoga class in Central Park at 2pm for $10 per class. The Farmer’s Market will be open from 10am – 6pm. For more information visit www.thebanfffarmersmarket.com
