If you’re looking to take a break from the slopes, there are a few cool events happening in town in January and February. 

UFC Nights at Windtower
As always, Windtower is your hub for everything UFC, which we’ll have up on the big screen so you can catch it live.  January and February are busy months for UFC with Fight Nights happening nearly every weekend. It’s Guillard vs. Miller on Friday, January 20th.  Check www.ufc.com for the full list – if it’s live, then we’ll have it!

Events in Canmore
Starting next week, the Canmore Public Library Gallery is hosting a Kids’ Art Exhibition, showcasing the imaginations and artistic talent of children and youth in our community.  Next, on January 22nd, get ready for World Snow Day at the Canmore Nordic Centre, featuring skating, tobogganing and plenty of fun for the family.

February also plays host to two great winter-themed events.  From February 10th to 22nd, join us for the Canmore Winter Carnival.  This free celebration includes the International Biathlon Union Cup races and the Xterra Triathlon.  Also be on the lookout for ski and dogsled races on a snow-covered Main Street along with ice carvings, snow sculpting and street hockey.  As well, on February 11th and 12th, come out for this year’s Knuckle Basher, Western Canada’s largest ice climbing festival with presentations, demos and seminars to help you get in on the action.

Events in Banff
From January 14th through until February 10th, come out for Banff’s Snow Days followed by their ‘When Winter Was King’ celebration in the evenings.  Heading into its 95th year, the Snow Days carnival will be celebrating all things winter with an outdoor skating rink, snowshoeing games, an outdoor photography exhibition and plenty more.  Even from 7pm to 8:30pm, drop by the South Wall for When Winter Was King, a commemoration of Banff’s rich winter history via wall-mounted projection screens.  And don’t worry about being cold, there’ll be cozy fire beds and hot chocolate for all!
